4As expands online training portfolio to include leadership course for creative directors

The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) is offering an online training course, “OMG! I’m in Charge!” to its members in a three-part series from June to July 2021.

According to a statement released by the association, this is the latest addition to the 4As online training portfolio which is made possible by leveraging 4As’ six-year alliance with the Chartered Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) UK and is supported by industry partner Astro.

“OMG! I’m in Charge!” will train practitioners in leadership roles to navigate the intricacies of managing both the creative team and the creative process over three two-hour sessions.

Some of the topics the course will include are Where are you leading your team to and why should they follow you; How to determine your leadership style; Learn that whatever the terms of your contract, you will be judged for skills that you were never told you would need; How to set goals and create a game plan; Examine the role of the leader in the project; How to nurture ideas with ten killer questions; How to practice listening and learn the benefits of shutting-up and The importance of appraisals.

“This syllabus fills a needs gap as existing advertising courses fail to address shaping great creative thinkers and do-ers in how to lead a team,” said CEO of 4As, Khairudin Rahim. “This is a completely new skill set which many practitioners fumble through and learn by trial and error, sometimes with poor results, forcing these new leaders to revert to executing work themselves, as subordinates keep missing the bullseye.”

Khairudin then went on to add that this course is years of mentorship distilled into six hours.

The online course will be conducted by Patrick Collister, an IPA UK endorsed trainer who has held prior leadership positions at Ogilvy London and The Zoo, Google’s creative think tank for Nothern Europe.

The course is available exclusively for 4As members with an additional fee of RM 2,000 + 6% SST. Closing date for registration is June 4.
