Among Us Servers Face DDoS Attack; US, EU Servers Affected

Among Us

Social deduction game Among Us may not be in the news much recently, but its popularity remains relatively high. High enough for it to be a target of a DDoS attack, as it turns out. Over the weekend, the game’s Twitter account reported the attack, saying that it mainly affects its US and EU servers.

The Among Us Twitter account starts off lightheartedly, but ultimately says that the game servers in the affected regions will be offline while the team works on fixing the issue. As of yesterday, the account said that servers may come on and off as a fix is still in the works. It also says that it will provide an update when things are stable again.

As it turns out, this isn’t the first time that Among Us has been the target of such online attacks. According to PC Gamer, the game had a hack that filled its lobbies with bots that repeatedly spammed messages. Actual players in there will later be despawned and left in a black room before being disconnected.

This happened back in 2020, which was when the game was at the height of its popularity. The game itself was launched in 2018, and its sudden popularity saw the cancellation of the sequel so the devs can work on improving the original.
