Anti-Vaxxers Claim They Were Cheated By The Doctor In The Illegal Vaccine Certificate Case

A doctor in Terengganu, who was recently arrested for allegedly selling vaccine certificates to anti-vaxxers, has now been arrested once again for fraud. In a rather ironic twist, it turns out that the doctor may have cheated the anti-vaxxers.

Terengganu Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief M. Zambri Mahmud said that the police have received reports that the complainants have paid the doctor in order to receive a vaccination certificate without having to actually get the jab. Based in Marang, the doctor who also has identified himself as an anti-vaxxer apparently has guaranteed that the vaccination status within his clients’ MySejahtera would be updated within 14 days after the transaction was concluded.

However, they said the 51-year-old doctor did not deliver on this. Zambri further said that each customer has paid the doctor RM450 to obtain his service.

The doctor is believed to have issued 1,900 vaccine certificates through his private clinic, though how many were legitimate vaccine recipients has yet to be determined. Police have also remanded six more individuals in relation to the case in Terengganu while a man in Sabah with connections to a syndicate was arrested for a similar fake vaccine certificate operation.
