Backbone One – PlayStation Edition Mobile Controller Adopts DualSense Look

Mobile controllers have proliferated, and now they are dime a dozen. But if you want one with the PlayStation kind of flavour specifically, there’s the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition. Made by a company that’s named just Backbone, this mobile controller is even officially licensed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

When we said PlayStation flavour, the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition specifically is made with a look that’s inspired by the DualSense controller. It has the same colour shceme of mostly white with black accents on it. Even the face buttons have the same look to it.

Naturally, being a product that’s officially licensed by SIE, the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition is advertised as the best thing out there for playing PS4 or PS5 games on your iPhone. In such use case scenarios, beyond downloading the Remote Play app, it is just a matter of plugging your iPhone into the mobile controller.

Of course, you could use the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition to play other games that’s available on the Apple App Store. Though for these, there’s the additional step of downloading the Backbone App. From here, you get access to “various PlayStation integrations” for you to create your own “customised PlayStation experience”.

The Backbone One – PlayStation Edition is priced at US$99.99 (~RM445). It will initially be released in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK. But the company says that availability in more countries are to follow. No specific details on that front just yet though. Worth mentioning is that there is an Android version of the same controller, but it’s doesn’t come in white, and therefore not a PlayStation Edition.

Also worth mentioning is that, for something that’s officially licensed by SIE, the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition doesn’t have the d-pad and the left analogue stick in the correct position. It’s a little disappointing that, for something that’s supposed to be inspired by the DualSense, it gets the left part of the controller wrong.
