First winners announced for Spikes Asia

Spikes Asia has today released details of the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. Following a shortlist of 682 pieces of work, 293 have gone on to be awarded, with the Gold winners now competing to take a coveted Grand Prix.

Malaysia scored 2 Gold Spikes – one to GREY Malaysia for WWF “Your Plastic Diet” and one to ensemble Malaysia for “Land of Light” for Petronas.

Australia leads the rankings with 78 awards in total. India are ranking second with 48, closely followed by New Zealand with 47.

In the Tangrams, which recognise strategy and effectiveness in the region and for 2021 are sponsored by InMobi, China has taken the most awards with 15, followed by Australia with eight. BMF Sydney, Australia, were awarded Platinum in the Effectiveness category for ‘How a Campaign for One convinced Australia to give ALDI another go’, created for ALDI Australia. In total the Tangrams jury awarded 1 Platinum, 11 Gold, 14 Silver and 18 Bronze trophies across the five categories.

Atifa Silk, Managing Director, Spikes Asia, said, “With the awards paused in 2020, this is a really special moment to be able to celebrate Asian creativity and the brilliance of markets such as India and China that have stood out in this year’s Spikes and Tangrams rankings. Being awarded a Spike, whatever the colour, is a huge achievement and testament to creative excellence. The winners make us all prouder than ever to be part of a region that’s dynamic, diverse and consistently raising the bar for creativity.”

The Grands Prix and Special Award winners will be revealed by the Jury Presidents on the Spikes Unwrapped webpage on Thursday 4 March from 08:00hrs SGT. For the first time, an accompanying Spikes Asia Creativity Report will also be released to provide a leading global resource for benchmarking creativity and effectiveness across APAC, while featuring official rankings, trends and Jury Presidents’ commentary from this year’s Spikes Awards. Susie Walker, Head of Awards, Spikes Asia, will present a film looking at the key insights from the winning work from the Spikes Asia Creativity Report.

All of the shortlists and winners so far can be viewed on the Spikes Winners site.
