Arriving three months after the first iteration of its latest X-series flagship is Fujifilm’s new X-H2 mirrorless camera. This high-end variant features a larger APS-C sensor, Pixel Shift Multi-Shot for ultra-high resolution stills, better video recording capabilities, and more.

At a glance, the Fujifilm X-H2 shares mostly the same design, though what really makes it stand out from its sibling is its internal hardware. But before we detail regarding the latter, it is worth mentioning that the camera comes with the same heat dissipation system as the X-H2S, 79 weather-sealed points for high level of dust and moisture resistance, and is built to withstand temperatures as low as minus 10-degrees Celsius.

It also has a 1.28-inch monochrome LCD monitor on top, a 3-inch 1.62 million dots vari-angle touchscreen colour LCD monitor on its back, as well as a 0.5-inch 5.76 million dots OLED electronic viewfinder. Additionally, the X-H2 features a CFexpress Type B card slot and one UHS-II SD card slot.

The new Fujifilm flagship camera is equipped with the company’s new 40.2 MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR back-side illuminated (BSI) sensor, and is accompanied by the X-Processor 5. It has a minimum standard ISO of 125 and a shutter speed of 1/180,000 second, which is the fastest available on any X-series camera. Besides that, the camera features the same hybrid autofocus system with phase detection and contrast detection points as the X-H2S, and a 5-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) system to effectively filter out most shakes and bumps while shooting.

Features-wise, the Fujifilm X-H2 supports HEIF format for shooting still images, and is the first X-series camera to come with the company’s new Pixel Shift Multi-Shot feature. The latter utilises the built-in IBIS system to shift the sensor precision up to 20 times in order to capture a finished 160 MP photo, which is constructed from the total information available from each RGB pixel on the new sensor. In addition, it is also the world’s first APS-C camera that is capable of recording 8K 30p Apple ProRes videos, as well as 4K footage that is oversampled from the larger format.

According to Fujifilm Malaysia, the new X-H2 APS-C mirrorless camera will retail at RM 9,998 for body only, and RM 12,888 when included together with XF16-80mm kit lens. Unfortunately, the company did not mention when the camera is expected to be available for purchase for the local market.
