Here’s The New Branding For EA’s Post-FIFA Football Game

Electronic Arts (EA) has unveiled the new branding for its football video game franchise which, as previously announced last year, will now be known as EA Sports FC. It will be the first from the publisher’s popular yearly title to lack FIFA’s branding after it parted ways with the global football governing body in 2022.

As seen from the image above, the game will be represented by a downwards-pointing triangle, which is inspired by “the triangles that have been part of EA Sports football for the past 30 years.” This is referring to the indicator that appears above a selected football athlete’s head whenever they are controlled by the player.

“The triangle has revolutionised football again and again since the birth of Total Football in the 70s,” EA wrote on a special website for the new branding. “Now it can serve as a proud badge for the evolutions of football to come.”

The site also revealed that the upcoming game will feature a variety of real-life players, teams, leagues and tournaments, including those involved with the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, the US’ Major League Soccer, Barclay’s Women’s Super League, UEFA Champions League, and many more. In fact, all participating leagues and teams themselves have shown their support for EA Sports FC on Twitter by coordinately tweeting the new logo on their respective accounts shortly after its unveiling.

As you can see, EA seemingly faced no qualms in obtaining the rights to the aforementioned teams, leagues and tournaments despite ending its 30-year partnership with FIFA. This is because the publisher had already secured these through a separate partnership with global professional footballer union FIFPRO. This grants it exclusive rights to several international leagues, alongside access to the likeness of football stars which the association represents.

EA promises to share more details about the upcoming video game later in July this year. However, it is unclear whether this will be an official launch or just a first look.
