IPC Shopping Centre launches CNY campaign with ox-mented reality twist

IPC Shopping Centre is kicking off its Niu Niu New Year’ campaign by serving the community in the ‘phygital’ space once more. Up till 21 February, shoppers can browse through exclusive deals on IPC’s Instagram and Facebook page and have them delivered through the mall’s and enjoy exclusive discounts as they make their delivery partners, GoGet and Beep.

Keeping with this year’s Chinese Zodiac, the ox which was set to win the Great Race (before the rat slid in front and won), IPC is also rewarding its customers for staying active and have released an augmented reality ox filter through the mall’s social media.

In the year of the ox, the community can jump, drum, and twist their way into shape by imitating the ox in the exercise videos introduced by IPC. To further support their home exercise journey, the shopping centre will be rewarding participants with a free RM10 ‘Niu Niu CNY’ e-voucher when they apply the ox filter and share videos of themselves working out, on their personal Instagram or Facebook page with the hashtag #NiuYearNewMe.

“Staying healthy has never been more important than it is now,” said Marketing Manager of IPC Shopping Centre,  Mark Tan. “The ‘Niu Niu New Year’ concept has been part of our plans since last year and we looked forward to celebrating the ‘niu year’ afresh by empowering our visitors to channel their inner ox and be a fitter and healthier version of themselves despite all that has happened last year.

With the re-implementation of the nation-wide movement control order, IPC scaled down on its usual on-ground festivities and channelled its focus on bringing this concept to live virtually.

“In developing the augmented reality ox filter and pairing it with workout videos, our goal is to provide our community with the interactive experience that they are used to while visiting IPC Shopping Centre,” Mark added. “We hope that through this initiative, families can stay active together and be as healthy as an ox as they jump and drum their way into the Lunar New Year and in due time, twist out of the pandemic.”

In efforts to create a safe space for visitors, the shopping has increased its sanitisation efforts and replaced chemical disinfectants with electrolyzed disinfectants approved by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to effectively sterilize the space in a shorter span of time. IPC is also committed to a high standard of hygiene, contact tracing, and social distancing protocols according to the latest government directives to curb the spread of the virus and ensure the wellbeing of all shoppers, co-workers, tenants, and the community.

To further simplify customers’ CNY preparations as they juggle working from home while preparing their homes, IPC has appointed GoGet as its partner, which allows shoppers to appoint a personal shopper to purchase items they need.

Daily meals and reunion feast can also be planned and ordered ahead of time to have it delivered to their homes via delivery partners such as Beep, GrabFood, and Food Panda.
