NVIDIA Reportedly Preparing To Launch A GeForce GTX 1630

Rumour has it that NVIDIA is allegedly preparing a new card aimed at the lower-end GPU market. The card in question, though, is said to be a GeForce GTX 1630, which is a little surprising.

One of the reasons why we find this surprising is because the last time NVIDIA released a GTX 16 series card was three years ago in 2019, and the card in question was the GTX 1650. As was the company’s good intentions, the Turing-based GPUs was meant to reach the hands of gamers, but at a more affordable price point, compared to its more powerful, Turing-powered Geforce RTX 20 series counterparts.

Getting back on point, there is still no word as what exactly the GTX 1630 is going to be based on although, at this point, it wouldn’t surprise us if NVIDIA decided to fit an Ampere GPU in the card at the end of the day. Ultimately, the GPU brand’s end game is reportedly to get a competitor to AMD’s Radeon RX 6500XT and 6400 graphics card. The former of which we tested and found to be lacklustre in its performance, especially when pitted against its direct competitor, the GeForce RTX 3050.

On that note, sources close to Videocardz have said that, if the card is real, the GTX 1630 could end up replacing the GTX 1050 Ti, NVIDIA’s Pascal-powered entry-level card that launched over five years ago. There is also the issue of pricing. As it stands, the GTX 1650, at its lowest price, retails for the RM999, which isn’t terribly expensive, but is about the same price as a GTX 1050 Ti. For that matter, an RTX 3050 retails for around RM1600 on average, meaning that should NVIDIA launch the card, it is going to have to retail for significantly less than RM1000.

Once again, information about this alleged GeForce GTX 1630 is still scarce and as it stands, we still do not have confirmation about its existence. As such, please treat this news with liberal sprinkling of salt.
