Less than two weeks after Rapid KL ended the Proof of Concept (PoC) LRT feeder bus in Wangsa Maju, it is launching another service in Shah Alam with local van e-hailing company Kumpool. The new service is similar to the previous PoC, this time providing an on-demand van for commuters using the T757 route.

The route specifically covers the Alam Megah LRT station in Shah Alam, available starting from today through the Kumpool app. It operates everyday from 6AM to 11.30PM just like the T250 feeder bus trial run at Wangsa Maju, but unlike regular Kumpool rides, the Alam Megah zone only allows you to add the LRT station as the drop-off destination.

The Kumpool on-demand service costs RM1 per ride and is completely cashless, with the only payment method available being the Touch n’ Go card. However, those with a My50 travel pass or Keluarga Malaysia pass can also use the service at no extra charge for an unlimited amount of times while the pass is still acting, just like with any other Rapid KL public transport.

The Wangsa Maju PoC lasted four months and was reportedly well-received by commuters as Rapid KL claimed that it ferried almost 27,000 passengers within that period. As for the Shah Alam feeder bus route, neither Rapid KL nor Kumpool have clarified exactly how long this trial will go on for.

When the T250 trial ended, Kumpool announced that Wangsa Maju and Setapak would be added as permanent areas on its app, which only services limited zones for now. Having said that, the fare for the new areas increased to RM2 for every trip, twice the price for its other zones.

Depending on how successful the T757 route is, Alam Megah could potentially be the next permanent area on Kumpool’s platform. Rapid KL has previously said that it plans on launching similar PoCs in more locations with a low percentage of bus users, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the two companies continued collaborating on feeder busses for other stations in the near future.
