Redfall Now Has A Release Date Of 2 May 2023
In addition to the surprise reveal and availability of Tango Gameworks’ new game Hi-Fi RUSH, Bethesda also finally revealed the exact release date of Redfall. This comes as part of the Xbox & Bethesda Developer_Direct which also shows off bits of new gameplay for the game.
From the new 10-or-so minutes of extended gameplay, Redfall is looking more like Arkane’s Dishonored than it is a horde survival shooter like Left 4 Dead. Or at least a mix of the two with the former being the more prominent one. This is simply because the lesser enemies are fewer in number, and don’t typically look to come in swarms. There are bosses sprinkled here and there, and they look to be a healthy variety of them with different mechanics and requiring different tactics to deal with.
There’s also a bit of the Ubisoft formula here as well in Redfall. To start, it comes with a skill tree that’s very reminiscent of Watch Dogs 1 and 2. There’s also the fact that the game has safehouses to unlock, as well as neighbourhoods to liberate. And of course, there are bosses at the end of the process. These are also side activities that may or may not be part of the larger narrative. And yes, all these point to an open world that allows you to take main or side quests at your leisure.
Naturally, there’s a wide range of weapons, from those inspired by real military guns to the wacky specialised vampire slayers. And of course, there’s at least one flavour of cosmetic for these, and it comes in the form of the vampire stakes that you stick onto the business end of your guns. Which is a long-winded way of saying cosmetic bayonets.
You can watch the new 10 minutes of Redfall gameplay via the embedded video above. The game itself is now scheduled to launch on 2 May 2023 on PC and the Xbox Series X and S.
