Samsung launched the long-rumoured Galaxy A24 last month and now, the brand has officially brought it over to the Malaysian market. The phone is its latest budget offering that is also the successor to last year’s A23, which retailed at the same price.

The Galaxy A24 sports a 6.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1000 nits and a tear-drop notch for the front camera, alongside a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. For connectivity, the affordable device supports 4G, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 5, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

It comes in three colour options, namely green, black, and red, and ships with One UI 5.1 based on Android 13. Samsung promises five years of security updates and four Android OS updates, so the phone could last users for quite a while before becoming obsolete.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A24 runs on the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, paired with a single configuration of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. While there is not an option with more internal storage, it does come with a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 1TB.

As for the battery life, Samsung promises more than two days of battery life with a 5,000mAh battery, which is the standard capacity for most phones these days, along with 25W charging. It packs a triple-camera setup on the back comprised of a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor, while the front houses a 13MP selfie snapper.

The Samsung Galaxy A24 retails for RM999 and from 10 to 31 May 2023, the company is offering an extra year of warranty and a clear case for free. As of now, it is unclear if Samsung plans on releasing a 5G version of the phone as it did later on with the A23.
