Let’s say you just bought your umpteenth ape from Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). But like the rest of your collection, you’ve nowhere else to show off your prized collection to anyone else aside from the folks that follow you on Twitter, Instagram or the numerous online NFT marketplaces. Well, fret not as TAG Heuer has recently released a free update to its Connected Calibre E4 smartwatch so you can showcase your NFT on its watchface via a feature known as “Lens.”

The newly added feature also links the watch to the user’s crypto wallet, which acts as a proof of ownership for their digital collectibles. This is achieved through a collaboration between TAG Heuer and cryptocurrency solutions firm Ledger, as well as crypto wallet software MetaMask. In addition, the company has also consulted and engaged with key members of the BAYC, Cryptopunk, CLONE-X and WOW communities in its development.  Users can transfer multiple NFTs to the new Lens watch face via a paired smartphone.

According to TAG Heuer, Lens supports all formats of NFTs; including still images and animated GIFs, with the latter looped infinitely on screen. These artworks are displayed in a hexagon in the centre of the display, with a cloud of particles gravitating around the image. Users are also presented with three unique ways to display time while also showcasing their NFTs, including a new conceptual design with a triangle and a circle representing the hours and minutes.

Meanwhile, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 was originally launched earlier this year in February. The watch sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with sapphire glass, and is available in 42mm and 45mm sizes. It runs on the new Wear OS platform developed by Google and Samsung, and comes with a slew of fitness and health related sensors and features.

Besides that, it is also equipped with WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, a 440 mAh battery, and a case with a waterproof rating of 5ATM. In Malaysia, the Calibre E4 is priced at RM 10,250, which is still somewhat more affordable than a BAYC ape, if you think about it.
