vivo X Fold Plus To Succeed The Original On 26 September

vivo X Fold Plus launch

vivo announced its first foldable phone, the X Fold, back in April. It looks like the company already has a successor model, the vivo X Fold Plus, less than six months after the original was first unveiled. Which, all things considered, is a very small gap between the two, and especially for a foldable.

In terms of specs, an AnTuTu listing indicates that the vivo X Fold Plus will not be a major upgrade over the first model. According to said listing, it will be sporting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 chipset, which is probably the most meaningful difference between the two. Other items in the AnTuTu listing includes 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage space, as well as Android 12.

As for the other parts of the vivo X Fold Plus spec sheet, we will probably be seeing a familiar 6.53-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate on the outside, an 8.03-inch OLED folding display on the inside, and one ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under each screen. The cameras are also likely to be the same, meaning a 50MP main, a 48MP wide angle, a 12MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom and an 8MP periscope with 5x zoom. The battery is also expected to be the same 4600mAh capacity, but charging speed may see a bump up to 80W, according to Android Police.

The launch event for the vivo X Fold Plus is scheduled for 26 September in its home market of China. This comes via the company’s Weibo page, with an image showing the device coming a new red colour option. It’s price will likely only be revealed then. No word on if this will be made available in other markets, but if the first model is any indication, this will likely remain exclusive to its home country.
