At least seven parties, including PBM, applied to join BN, says Umno Youth chief

PETALING JAYA: At least seven political parties, including Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), have applied to join Barisan Nasional ahead of the upcoming general election.

This was revealed by Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki (pic), who questioned the phenomena of parties wanting to join or return to the coalition’s fold.

“Why do so many parties want to join or come back as a component of Barisan?

“This phenomenon is not only limited to PBM, but at least seven parties have submitted applications to join Barisan,” said Asyraf Wajdi in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Aug 3).

This was in response to news reports quoting Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin saying that PBM had submitted its application to join Barisan three weeks ago.

“PBM submitted an application to Barisan three weeks ago to be part of the coalition.

“We are still waiting for an answer,” Zuraida told reporters on Wednesday (Aug 3).

Zuraida, who is PBM president-designate, had quit Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia in May to join PBM.
