Bangsar urban farm issued eviction notice for violating nursery licence terms

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory Lands and Mines Department has taken enforcement action against the Kebun-Kebun Bangsar community farm here, for violating the terms of the Temporary Occupation Licence (LMS) for nursery purposes.

FT Lands and Mines director Datuk Muhammad Yasir Yahya said the terms included the type of crops and no permanent structure should be built under the electric pylons based on the technical feedback from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

“We also received complaints of disturbances lodged by residents.

“Investigations revealed that the nursery keeps various livestock such as chickens, ducks and sheep, thus raising other issues such as odour pollution, flies and noise disturbance which led to the enforcement action,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (June 28).

He said the deaprtment supported the urban farms initiative, however, the requirements prescribed under the LMS must be adhered to for the benefit of all parties.

The community farm, which has caught the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, posted an eviction notice that it received on June 23 that had gone viral on social media.- Bernama
