Biker dies after colliding into another motorcycle in Manjung

IPOH: A 60-year-old fisherman was killed when the motorcycle he was on crashed with another motorcycle in front of a petrol station at Jalan Pantai Remis in Manjung.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre officer-in-charge Mohammad Zamri Awang Long said the victim, identified as Ramli Abdul Hamid, was confirmed to have died on the spot in the 7.05am incident on Thursday (Feb 23).

Mohammad Zamri said the other motorcyclist, identified as Mohamad Tahir Selamat, a navy personnel, was injured.

“The collision also caused both vehicles to burst into flames, which was put out by the firemen.

“Both victims suffered burns,” he said in a statement.

“The deceased’s body was handed over to the police while the injured man was handed over to the medical officers for the respective course of actions,” he said, adding that both vehicles were destroyed.

In another separate accident at KM255 northbound of the North-South Expressway near Kuala Kangsar, tanker driver Mohd Asuat Azmi, in his mid-20s, was killed when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed to the side of the road at about 3.15am.

Operations chief Syed Azrul Hizam Syed Abdul Aziz said the victim was thrown out from the vehicle during the accident.

“Medical personnel confirmed that he died on the spot,” he said, adding that the body was handed over to the police.
