Body of murdered man found in Cyberjaya lake

SEPANG: The body of a man who had been slashed to death was found in a lake near Cyberjaya.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said they were alerted at around 10.15pm on Saturday (Feb 11) by a man who reported finding a body floating in the lake behind the Masjid Raja Haji Fisabilillah Cyberjaya.

“A team from the Sepang police headquarters and Dengkil police station went to the scene to investigate and found the body floating near the lake’s bank. The Fire and Rescue Department was called in to assist in retrieving the body and checks revealed the body was fully clothed,” he said.

He said when contacted on Sunday (Feb 12) that checks revealed the body had three slash wounds to the head and added that the man’s left wrist was almost completely severed.

“A witness said he was out fishing at around 8pm at the lake when he noticed a vehicle in the lake.

He went to inspect and found an object looking like a human body in the lake,” he said, adding that the person called the police when they realised what they saw was actually the body of a man

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said a forensics team went to the scene and found that there were at least five slash wounds on the victims body.

“They also found a Toyota Hilux in the lake bearing the licence plate WNY5447. The victim has been identified as a 43-year-old man,” he said, adding that the case has been classified as murder.
