Contracts of political appointees to be terminated immediately

PETALING JAYA: The contracts of political appointees at all Federal statutory bodies and government-linked companies are to be terminated with immediate effect.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali (pic) said in a circular to all ministry chief secretaries that the directive should be implemented without delay.

“The Cabinet in a meeting on Dec 14 has decided that the chairmen and board members of Federal statutory bodies, finance minister companies (incorporated), government-related companies and government-related investment companies appoint politicians to be terminated immediately,” read the circular dated Wednesday (Dec 14).

The Pakatan Harapan-led government had previously ended the services of several high-ranking civil servants, including former Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shafiq Abdullah.
