Cops nab two men over Kajang clinic robbery

KAJANG: Police have arrested two men in connection with the robbery of a dental clinic at Bandar Seri Putra Bangi.

A video of the alleged robbery was circulated on social media on Monday (Nov 7), showing two men wearing helmets and armed with machetes entering the premises and robbing the staff.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the incident occurred at around noon on Monday.

“We received a report about the robbery and the staff claimed they were robbed of RM2,000 cash, a gold chain, two mobile phones and a Macbook.

“No one was hurt in the incident and the suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle,” he told reporters on Thursday (Nov 10).

He said based on police investigations, a team from Kajang CID’s Serious Crimes Unit (D9) arrested the two suspects near Sungai Tangkas at 4.58pm on Wednesday (Nov 9).

“We seized seven mobile phones, a Macbook, two rings, a gold chain, two sling bags, a machete, two helmets and a Yamaha motorcycle.

“We also arrested a Bangladeshi man, a local man and a woman in connection with the case,” he said, adding that investigations revealed that the two men initially arrested were the main suspects involved.

He said the woman arrested was the wife of one of the suspects.

“We found stolen jewellery in her possession while the Bangladeshi man was arrested for possessing a stolen mobile phone.

“The other male suspect arrested was the owner of the motorcycle used in the robbery,” he said, adding that one of the main suspects had just been released from a Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) detention order in September.

ACP Mohd Zaid said the two main suspects had prior records for robbery and drug-related crimes.

“Further checks revealed the suspect who was previously released from POCA detention had 12 prior offences.

“All the suspects have been remanded for five days to help with further investigations,” he said.
