Covid-19: 36 new deaths bring total fatalities to 30,574

PETALING JAYA: A total of 36 deaths due to Covid-19 were reported by the Health Ministry on Saturday (Dec 4), bringing the cumulative death toll to 30,574 since the pandemic began.

According to the Health Ministry’s GitHub database, of the new deaths recorded, eight died before they could receive treatment at the hospital, bringing the total number of brought-in-dead (BID) Covid-19 cases in Malaysia to 6,189.

Of the fatalities yesterday, Sabah topped the list of states with the most number of deaths with nine deaths, followed by Penang (6), Kelantan (4), Johor (4), Perak (3), Negri Sembilan (3) Terengganu (3), Pahang (2), Selangor (1) and Perlis (1).

There were no deaths in Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Melaka, Kedah, Putrajaya and Labuan.

As of midnight, there were 62,668 active cases.

Malaysia recorded 4,896 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday (Dec 4), bringing the cumulative infections to 2,654,474.

Of the new cases, 490 are in intensive care units (ICU) while 269 patients required respiratory assistance.

The number of new cases reported outpaced the number of recoveries, which stood at 4,676.
