Covid-19: 4,020 new cases, says Health Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 4,020 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday (July 7), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Friday (July 8) that this brings the new total to 4,586,322 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 4,020 cases, nine were imported cases while 4,011 were local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 1,718 recoveries, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 33,839.

Of the active cases, 96.4% or 32,617 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 21 people or 0.1% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.4% of active cases or 1,156 individuals needed to be hospitalised.

Of that number, 23 require ventilator support.
