PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had first-hand experience ‘flying’ an Airbus A220 through a simulator at the CAE headquarters in Montreal on Sunday (Sept 25).
“I was briefed on the levels of training required to attain a full Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) licence where in Malaysia CAE KL provides airline training for A320, A330 and B737NG pilots during my visit on Sunday (Sept 25),” said the Transport Minister.
“My thanks to Nick Leontidis, CAE group president for Civil Aviation for hosting the Malaysian delegation during this visit,” added Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Monday (Sept 26).
CAE Montreal provides training to airline pilots and customer service to many airlines.
“We must appreciate the impressive levels of commitment and training that pilots, engineers, cabin crew, ground handling crew and all civil aviation staff go through to ensure high standards of safety and security on commercial flights.
Joining Dr Wee on the visit were Malaysian High Commissioner to Canada Siti Hajjar Adnin, Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak, CAAM chief executive officer Datuk Capt Chester Voo, CAAM chairman Tan Sri Khairul Adib Abdul Rahman, Transport Ministry Aviation Division Mohd Radzuan Mazlan and Malaysia’s permanent representative to the International Civil Aviation Organisation Flora Chin.
