Eight houses razed in Renggam fire

KLUANG: Eight houses have been razed after a fire broke out at Jalan Hj Siraj in Renggam here.

Kluang Fire and Rescue department station chief Mohd Fauzi Md Nor said they received a call about the incident at 9.21pm on Wednesday (Jan 5).

“A total of 25 firemen in three fire engines were deployed to the scene.

“A shophouse and nine double-storey houses were on fire. The (shophouse) was being rented out for residential use.

“Eight houses were completely destroyed in the fire while the firemen managed to save one,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 6).

He noted that no deaths or injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was still being investigated while the total losses were being tallied, he added.
