Flood alert: Sungai Melaka water level above danger level near Batu Hampar

MELAKA: Water levels in Sungai Melaka breached the danger level of 2m in Batu Hampar here with a reading of 2.17m as at 9am Monday (Oct 10), says the Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID).

According to the DID’s publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my website, Sungai Kesang in Telok Rimba, Jasin, was at 3.26m and Sungai Duyong in Duyong, Melaka Tengah, was at 1.71m, also breaching the danger level of 3.25m and 1.28m, respectively.

Meanwhile, it also said that Lencongan Sungai Malim in Klebang Besar had exceeded the warning level of 0.5m on Monday morning with a reading of 1.56m.

The Meteorological Department of Malaysia had earlier issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds for several states, including Melaka, until 1pm on Monday. – Bernama
