Four charged with insurance agent’s murder

SEREMBAN: Three men and a woman have been charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with the murder of an insurance agent whose skeletal remains were found in Tanjung Sepat, Selangor on Dec 2.

S. Jeeva, 51, M. Raja, 35, P. Yogan Pillay, 25 and M. Bereamalah, 39, were jointly charged with the murder of P. Rajasegaran, 52.

They are accused of committing the crime between 10.30am on Nov 12 and 4.45pm on Dec 2 at the 10th floor of Menara Zurich here.

No plea was recorded from the accused after the charge was read to them before Magistrate Norzaliza Tesmin on Friday (Dec 17).

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or 30 years jail and whipping upon conviction.

Norzaliza then fixed Jan 26 for next mention while awaiting the forensics, chemistry and post-mortem reports.

Nurul Muhaimin Mohd Azman prosecuted while Datuk Abu Bakar Isa Ramat appeared for all the accused.

The victim’s 44-year-old wife, who worked at the same insurance company, lodged a police report on Nov 12 after she failed to reach him on his mobile phone despite repeated attempts.

Police found the victim’s car abandoned in Banting four days later.

Seremban police chief ACP Nanda Maarof said preliminary police investigations found that extortion was involved.
