Fresh voting this week for PKR’s Kota Kinabalu branch, 12 others

KOTA KINABALU: The PKR branch here, affected by reported glitches in the online polling system last week, is among 13 branches in five states that will see fresh voting held for the party elections this week.

Voting for the KK branch will be on Saturday (May 28) along with branches in Terengganu, Kedah and Selangor, while Kelantan branches will have their polling done on Friday (May 27).

“The voting centres will be informed as soon as possible,” PKR election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa said in a statement on Wednesday (May 25).

On Sunday (May 22), Datuk Christina Liew – who is defending her post as KK branch head – claimed that voters complained about being unable to cast their votes for the branch committee posts during physical voting.

A technical glitch was blamed for the list of candidates going missing from the voting tablet provided by the election committee.

At the hotel used as the polling centre, Liew had said voters could not find her name, as well as other branch committee hopefuls, and only candidates for the party’s central leadership council appeared on the tablet.
