Further special EPF withdrawals not an option, says Umno Youth

PETALING JAYA: Another special Employees Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawal is not an option, says Umno Youth in calling for a more holistic approach to address the rising cost of living.

Its chief Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that while he was one of the proponents who called for the earlier EPF special withdrawals, it can’t be the only solution.

“Putrajaya should look into a more holistic approach to counter the rising prices of goods, as the last EPF withdrawal should be the final one,” said Asyraf in a Facebook post Monday (June 13).

Asyraf urged the government to do away with red tape at the lower levels which could help cushion the high cost of living, especially for the B40 group.

“This will expedite aid measures and subsidies, which could be delivered effectively,” he added.

The government had allowed four special EPF withdrawal schemes since 2020 with a total of RM101bil, with the last being in March this year.
