GE15: Tambun should be where Anwar meets his Waterloo, says Umno leader

PETALING JAYA: The people of Perak have the opportunity to end Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political career in the 15th General Election (GE15) and prove he is no vital national asset, says Barisan Nasional’s communications director.

Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (pic) said the Opposition leader has not made any contributions to the parliamentary constituency of Tambun, where he intends to contest in GE15.

Dr Shamsul Anuar, who is also Lenggong MP, added that Anwar was not so important that he should just be handed victory in any election.

“Let Tambun be proof of Anwar’s loss of influence,” he said in a Facebook post.

Dr Shamsul Anuar, who is an Umno supreme council member, said not just PKR but Bersatu must be defeated in Tambun as well.

“We are confident that the three-cornered competition will give an advantage to the Barisan candidate.

“I am confident that Anwar’s presence will increase the motivation and spirit of the Tambun Perak Barisan machinery to work even harder.

“I hope we are aware (that) Pakatan Harapan leaders including Anwar often change their constituencies every general election because (they) … did not work for the people (in their previous constituencies).

“That’s why they move areas.

“Anwar moved from Port Dickson to Tambun. So voters in Tambun, don’t make a mistake.

“The best choice is BN.

“We must make GE15 the stage to end the political (careers) of Anwar Ibrahim and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad because these two characters have been hurting the country for a long time,” he claimed.

On Oct 20, Anwar confirmed that he will contest in Tambun.

The immediate past MP is former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, the Bersatu deputy president who is now caretaker Youth and Sports Minister.

He had been declared a “traitor” by Pakatan for his role in the collapse of the previous state government in 2020 by switching sides to Perikatan Nasional shortly after the Sheraton Move.

On Sept 28, Anwar said he had to pick areas held by traitors as a message that treachery in politics is unacceptable.
