GOF seize illegal ciggies, liquor worth over RM421,000 in Johor

JOHOR BARU: The General Operations Force (GOF) have confiscated illicit cigarettes and liquor worth RM421,769 at Taman Johor Jaya here.

GOF Battalion 5 commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the untaxed cigarettes and liquor were seized on Monday (March 21) at about 4pm.

“The seized items were 20 boxes of contraband cigarettes and 1,548 bottles of liquor,” he said in a statement.

He added the items have been handed over to the Seri Alam Police District headquarters, including a van believed to be used to transport the goods, for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 135(1) of the Customs Act 1967.
