IGP: Cops fully prepared for April 1 reopening of country’s borders

KUALA LUMPUR: All elements of the police force are fully prepared for the reopening of borders on April 1 with security stepped up, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

“As with other agencies, we have made ample preparations, especially at the northern and southern borders of Peninsular Malaysia as well as Sabah and Sarawak.

“Elements of the General Operations Force (GOF) have been deployed to increase monitoring at the borders as well,” he told reporters at the sidelines of the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security Asia (NATSEC) 2022 exhibitions here on Tuesday (March 29).

The IGP said he hoped that the reopening of borders will create more convenience for Malaysians.

“We will also step up security at the borders of Kelantan and Kedah.

“We are ready to face any eventuality when the borders reopen on April 1,” he said.
