Increase in contributions by EPF members, employers during Phase 4 of NRP

PETALING JAYA: There is an increase in the number of members and employers who are actively contributing to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) during phase four of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), says the Finance Ministry.

As of Dec 2021, the Ministry said the number of active EPF members showed an increase of 1.3% to 7.7 million compared to 7.6 million members in December 2020.

“The number of active employers also showed an increase of 3.3% to 553,000, compared to 536,000 in 2020,” said the Ministry

“The registration of new members and employers in 2021 were 422,000 and 73,000 respectively compared to 402,000 and 67,000, each in 2020,” it added in a written reply in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (March 10).

It said that the total contributions for 2021 were RM71.8bil, adding that it was an increase of 2.6% compared to RM70bil in 2020.
