JB cops nab man for assaulting council enforcement officer

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for assaulting a Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) enforcement officer here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the 42-year-old victim had lodged a police report at around 1.50am on Sunday (Sept 4).

“The victim lodged a report claiming that he had been physically assaulted while carrying out an operation at a premises in Taman Pelangi here.

“During the operation, the suspect, who works as a manager at the premises, was unhappy with MBJB’s action in seizing several items from the shop before getting into a fight with the enforcement officer,” he said here on Tuesday (Sept 6).

ACP Raub added that police then arrested the suspect at the premises on Monday (Sept 5) at around 1.15pm where further checks found that the premises did not have a licence to operate.

He also said the victim sustained injuries to his face due to being punched and had a bruise on his left knee following the assault.

ACP Raub added that the case was being investigated under Section 322 of the Penal Code and urged those with information relating to the case to contact the Johor Baru South police hotline at 07-218 2323.
