Johor govt hopes to merge three city councils to create Greater JB plan

JOHOR BARU: The state government is hoping to merge three city councils as part of its plan to create a Greater Johor Baru.

Housing and Local Government committee chairman Ayub Jamil said they have already drafted a working paper on the matter to be presented to the Federal Government.

“We are just within a short distance from Singapore which is among the 10 cleanest cities in the world,” said Ayub.

“The time is right for us to look at our own city hall by merging the city councils of Johor Baru, Iskandar Puteri and Pasir Gudang as part of our efforts for the Greater Johor Baru area,” he added.

Ayub was speaking to reporters after witnessing the handing over of the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification to the Pinang 3 management corporation in Taman Daya here on Sunday (Jan 9).

He said this was the second such ISO certification for a strata housing project in the country, adding that he hoped such best practices would be emulated in other projects, especially strata properties statewide.

The earlier ISO certification was for a medium-cost project in Johor Baru.
