Johor polls: Annuar Musa says new Johor MB to be sworn-in Tuesday (March 15), extends congratulations

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Annuar Musa says he expects the new Johor mentri besar to be sworn in on Tuesday (March 15) afternoon.

The Ketereh MP also congratulated whoever would be appointed the new mentri besar in a tweet Tuesday morning.

In his tweet, Annuar said Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had nominated a candidate to Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

“The new mentri besar will be taking his oath of office at Istana Johor in a short while, congratulations and I wish him the best in carrying out his duties,” added Annuar in his tweet.

Former Johor mentri besar Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad was expected to be nominated for a second term as mentri besar, but his call on Monday (March 14) for a younger person to be nominated is being seen as an indication that he is not in the running for the post.

The names of Hasni, Umno supreme council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi and Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, grandson of Umno founder Datuk Onn Jaafar, are reported to have been shortlisted for the mentri besar’s post.
