Johor polls: Approximately 2,540,000 voters expected on polling day, says EC

JOHOR BARU: A total of 2,539,606 normal voters out of the total 2,597,742 registered voters in Johor are eligible to vote in the state election on Saturday (March 12)

Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak said in a statement on Thursday (March 10) that the rest of the total are 21,407 early voters and 36,729 postal voters.

“We would like to advise voters to check and take note of their information such as their polling centre, polling channel and voter number at https://pengundi.spr.gov.my,” he said.

“They can also check this information through the MySPR Semak application and EC hotline at 03-8892 7018 before polling day,” added Ikmalrudin.

Ikmalrudin said that the EC, through the MySPR Semak app, had also provided a voting time advisory for each voter and highly encouraged them to cast their votes at the proposed time.

“If, for a certain reason, they cannot go to the polling centre during the proposed time, voters can still do so anytime between 8am and 6pm. However, voters are advised not to wait until the very last minute,” he said.

He also said voters were also required to always comply with the rules and regulations on Covid-19 prevention during polling day.

Ikmalrudin added that voters are also reminded to bring their identity card, but to not give it to anyone other than the election officials at the polling channel for verification.

“We call upon all voters in Johor to come and perform their responsibility as voters this Saturday,” he said.
