Johor Ruler tours Singapore Air Force’s Sembawang base

JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar toured the Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Sembawang Air Base during his three-day visit to the island republic.

His Majesty was hosted by Singapore’s Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen and accompanied by Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim during the visit on Thursday (July 21).

Also present was Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, state secretary Tan Sri Datuk Dr Azmi Rohani and other senior state officials.

Sultan Ibrahim was briefed on the RSAF, viewed a static display of the CH-47F Heavy Lift Chinook helicopter, and took a familiarisation ride on board the helicopter.

Earlier, the Sultan also visited the site of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link at the Woodlands North terminal in Singapore.

The Sultan and Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah are on a three-day official visit to Singapore starting Wednesday (July 20).

The visit is at the invitation of Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

On Wednesday (July 20), the Sultan was conferred an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws by the National University of Singapore (NUS).

His Majesty was being honoured in recognition of his contributions to strengthening ties between Singapore and Johor.
