Landslip puts IIUM dormitory on shaky ground, 128 students evacuated

PETALING JAYA: A landslip has occurred outside a dormitory block at a local university, affecting over 100 students.

It took place just outside a dormitory at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) in Gombak, the varsity’s communications office, advocacy and promotion director Dr Harmi Taazim Mohamad told The Star.

He said the university’s administration team received the news from students at the dormitory at around 6pm on Sunday (Dec 26) evening.

“The Fire Department and police are here to investigate the matter.

“Around 128 students living at the block were affected and they have been shifted to another block for now,” he said, adding that it is the only block currently affected by the landslide.
