Man breaks into surau while high on drugs to look for food

KUALA LUMPUR: A man under the influence of drugs has been arrested for breaking into a surau in an attempt to search for food.

In a statement on Sunday (Aug 21), Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said that the complainant received a message of the break-in on Saturday (Aug 20).

He added that when the complainant headed to the Surau AU3/1 at Taman Keramat at 7.40am, a lock at the storeroom was damaged and checks inside the storeroom showed that it had been rummaged through.

“At 3pm the police apprehended the 47 year old suspect, who was found within the vicinity of the surau. The unemployed man told the police that he broke into the store under the influence of drugs and that he had been looking for food,” said ACP Mohamad Farouk

“The suspect was found to have two previous drug-related offences in his criminal record and is a wanted man. A urine test came back positive for meth,” he said.
