Man nabbed for sexually harassing teenage girl

AMPANG: A 32-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged sexual harassment of a teenage girl at an apartment in Taman Dagang here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 17-year-old victim was walking towards her sister’s home at about 3.45pm on Saturday (Sept 3) when the suspect followed her closely and attempted to touch her.

“The victim ran away and shouted for help.

“The suspect then caused a ruckus in front of the apartment before the fiance of the victim’s sister intervened and detained the suspect. He then contacted the police,” he said on Monday (Sept 5).

Police then arrived and arrested the suspect at 4.20pm on Saturday, he added.

“He has a criminal record for a drug-related offence.

“He has been remanded until Wednesday (Sept 7) for further investigation,” he added.

The case has been classified under Section 509 of the Penal Code for outraging modesty and behaving inappropriately, ACP Mohamad Farouk said.
