Manager nabbed for lodging false police report

PORT DICKSON: Police have arrested a construction company manager for lodging a fake report claiming he lost almost RM40,000 to thieves who supposedly broke into his car.

Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said the 32-year-old suspect had lodged a report on Friday (Jan 14) regarding the alleged theft.

“He claimed that he withdrew RM45,000 from a bank in Cyberjaya earlier in the day to pay the salaries of his staff.

“He then returned to Lukut where he gave his uncle RM4,700 and later went to a shop in Taman Sentosa to have a meal,” he said.

The suspect claimed he kept the balance of the money in the car.

However, when he returned to his car, he discovered that the money, which was kept in a pouch under the seat, was missing.

None of the car windows was broken.

“When we questioned him, he finally admitted that he made up the story of the missing RM39,800.

“He also admitted that he lost the money while gambling at a licensed outlet,” he said.

Supt Aidi Sham said the suspect would be probed under Section 182 of the Penal Code which provides a jail term of up to six months or a fine or both.

“We advise members of the public not to resort to such tactics as this is a serious offence,” he added.
