MCMC interim chairman steps down; successor to be announced by Comms Minister

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) interim chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din has stepped down from the role following half a year of holding the position.

In a statement issued to a local news outlet, MCMC said the Minister of Communications and Digital would announce the designation of a new chairperson.

“Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din has stepped down from his position as Interim Chairman of the MCMC,” the statement read.

“The appointment of MCMC chairman is under the purview of the Minister of Communications and Digital. Announcement regarding the matter will be communicated by the Minister in due course.

“With the strong senior leadership, MCMC continues to carry out its duties in regulating and promoting the telecommunications, broadcasting, postal and courier industries in particular balancing and protecting the overall interests of the consumers, industry and investors,” it added.

Currently, no reason for the resignation has been provided.

Mohamad Salim was also appointed to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) consultation and corruption prevention panel on May 30 last year.
