More quit Sabah DAP in fallout from recent polls

KOTA KINABALU: More resignations have hit Sabah DAP after its recent election that saw a number of high-profile lawmakers fail to secure positions on the committee.

After stalwart Datuk Jimmy Wong quit the party on Nov 21 as a sign of protest against the election results, a number of his supporters appear to have followed suit.

Jimmy was Sri Tanjung assemblyman and later Kota Kinabalu MP.

Alex Wong, the special officer to Elopura assemblyman Calvin Chong, recently made it known that he and over 100 other members were quitting the party.

Chong, however, said he had not made any decision to leave the party.

“I respect the decision made by Jimmy and the others who decided to leave Sabah DAP but for now, it is not something I am thinking of,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (Dec 1).

Chong did not make it as a committee member in the new Sabah DAP lineup.

State party chairman Datuk Frankie Poon said he would respond to the resignations later.
