Motorcyclist killed after being dragged under a lorry in Tapah

IPOH: A motorcyclist died after she fell off her motorcycle and was dragged underneath a lorry at KM57 of Jalan Ipoh – Kuala Lumpur in Tapah.

Tapah OCPD Supt Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the victim, identified as 39-year-old Shahriza Ishak, was heading to Kampar from Tapah prior to the accident at about 7.15am on Friday (Aug 12).

“Based on our initial investigations, both vehicles were heading the same way before her motorcycle grazed the lorry.

“Shahriza’s motorcycle fell and she was dragged for about 10m by the lorry,” he said in a statement.

Wan Azharuddin said the victim suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 36-year-old lorry driver was unharmed and tested positive for methamphetamine.

“We have arrested him for further investigations,” he said.
