Murder probe on guardians over death of girl, 8

IPOH: The guardians of an eight-year-old girl who died due to suspected abuse have been remanded for seven days.

Magistrate Anis Hanini Abdullah ordered the victim’s uncle and aunt, both 40, to be remanded from Monday (May 16) to Sunday (May 22).

They will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

In a statement issued on Sunday (May 15) night, Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the girl is believed to have died as a result of abuse.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the girl was brought to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun by ambulance on Sunday and was pronounced dead at about 1.45am.

The two suspects, who are the victim’s guardians, were arrested at 3.50pm the same day.
