Najib’s SRC case review: Technical glitch temporarily halts proceedings

PUTRAJAYA: The hearing in Datuk Seri Najib Razak review application in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case at the Federal Court here began with a technical glitch impairing the proceedings.

About five minutes into the hearing on Monday (Feb 20), with Najib’s lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah resuming his submissions, the audio system stopped working.

This caused the proceedings to be halted for about 20 minutes.

After the technical problems were resolved, Muhammad Shafee continued with his submissions.

The hearing is before a five-judge panel chaired by Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Justice Abdul Rahman Sebli.

Other judges are Federal Court judges Justices Vernon Ong Lam Kiat, Rhodzariah Bujang, Nordin Hassan and Court of Appeal judge Justice Abu Bakar Jais.

Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor is also present at the public gallery.

Najib is seeking to review the Federal Court’s decision of Aug 23, 2022, which upholds the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s decision to convict and sentence him to 12 years in jail and a RM210mil fine in the RM42mil SRC International case.

On Sept 6, last year, he applied for a review of the Federal Court’s decision, claiming a “miscarriage of justice” in his case.
