No elements of wrongdoing uncovered in MAINS probe, says Negri MACC

SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption (MACC) confirmed that it had probed the Negri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Council (MAINS) four years ago but found no alleged misuse of tithes.

State MACC director Awangkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awang Ismail said it had launched an investigation in 2019 but did not find any evidence to suggest there was misappropriation or other wrongdoings.

“We did not find any element of a criminal offence or anything corruption-related in our probe. It is my hope that no one will spread or speculate further on this case as seen in a post in a Telegram account recently,” he said in a statement Thursday (Feb 9).

Awangkok Ahmad said further investigations will however be conducted if it receives new leads on the matter

The MACC, he said, was committed in its fight against corruption involving public funds in the state.
