PAS expresses full confidence in RCI probe of Tabung Haji

PETALING JAYA: PAS is confident that the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) set up to look into Lembaga Tabung Haji’s management and operational issues will conduct a thorough and professional probe, says party information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin.

“We are confident that the investigation will be carried out in a transparent, independent and comprehensive manner to clear up all (the) allegations,” he said in a statement on Friday (Jan 21).

He said PAS was thankful for the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to set up the RCI.

“His Majesty’s consent shows how transparency and integrity are of the utmost priority to the Malaysian government,” he said.

Khairil also called for Tabung Haji to move forward with increased efficiency and integrity on the whole.

“May it be the pride of Muslims nationwide while also setting an example globally, especially in the area of performing the haj,” he said.

On Wednesday (Jan 19), the King consented to the setting up of the RCI to investigate Tabung Haji’s management and operational issues from 2014 to 2020.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said His Majesty also consented to the appointment of six RCI members, including former chief justice Tun Md Raus Sharif as its chairman.
