Penang CM joins yee sang tossing session at The Star’s Pitt St office

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow visited The Star’s Pitt Street office here for an early Chinese New Year celebration on Tuesday (Jan 11).

Celebrating with Star Media Group (SMG) employees, Chow was also given a tour of the editorial office before feasting his eyes on a photo exhibition of The Star cover stories from recent times.

Chow was accompanied by Senator Lim Hui Ying, Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim, Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai, state youth and sports committee chairman Soon Lip Chee, Penang environment and welfare committee chairman Phee Boon Poh and state local government committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo.

Joining them for a yee sang tossing session were SMG client brand marketing general manager Simone Liong and news editor Alex Teng as well as other SMG staff members.

Loud chants of prosperity wishes in Penang style with “Heng ah! Ong ah! and Huat ah!” (meaning fortune, luck and wealth in Hokkien) could be heard in the background as they tossed for a better year.

Also present were Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng, Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng and Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim.
