Perak civil servant fined RM17,000 for using forged document in supply deal

IPOH: An assistant administrative officer with a state government welfare arm has been fined RM17,000 in default three months’ jail by the Sessions Court here for falsifying documents.

Abdul Malek Mansor, who is with Yayasan Perak, pleaded guilty to the charge before Sessions judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad on Friday (Nov 11).

The offence was committed on Aug 2, 2018, at the foundation’s office here.

According to the charge sheet, Abdul Malek, 50, fraudulently used a forged quotation form to make it look like a genuine document in the procurement and supply of sportswear amounting to RM63,650 for an interstate sports carnival.

It also stated that at the time of the offence, the accused was aware that he used a false document.

Abdul Malek was treasurer of the foundation’s sports and welfare club for the term 2018-19.

The charge was framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code for knowingly using a forged document, and punishable under Section 465 (for forgery) which provides for a jail term of up to two years, or a fine, or both upon conviction.
